Common Questions

Who is your typical client?

Our clients tend to be those who want to use their spare time to focus on what they enjoy in life, whether that’s being active outdoors, spending time with their family, doing charitable work, or growing their business.  They trust us and other professionals like CPA’s, estate attorneys, and real estate advisors to make sure all aspects of their financial lives are in order. They also appreciate the streamlined, easy-to-understand service we provide.  We take pride in educating our clients and avoid investment jargon.

Do I have to live in San Diego to be a client?

No!  Via the wonders of technology we can work virtually with anyone in the United States.

What is a CFP and why is it different?

Not all financial advisors are the same.  At a bare minimum, those who have earned the right to use the CFP mark have accomplished a minimum education, experience, and ethical standard which is one of the the highest standards in the industry.  Learn more about the requirements here: https://www.cfp.net/become-a-cfp-professional/cfp-certification-requirements

Who is not a good fit?

Someone who is solely focused on their investments.  While good investment returns are important, our clients believe that achieving financial success involves much more than that.  Our clients appreciate being updated on their entire picture and have an engagement calendar that involves tax and retirement planning updates, real estate analysis, and estate planning consultations.

How do you get paid?

We are true fee-only fiduciaries and do not receive commissions or kickbacks of any kind.  Our clients who choose to engage on our financial planning services pay a monthly retainer based on the complexity of your situation which ranges between $150 – 500 a month.

Do you manage assets?

Yes!  If you do not have the time or desire to manage your own assets we have a discretionary investment management platform to take care of that for you.  We charge an asset management fee listed below. Once your assets reach $300,000 we no longer charge a monthly retainer which which ranges between $150 – 500 a month

Account Value Annual Advisory Fee
$0 – $500,000 1.00%
$500,000 – $1,000,000 0.90%
$1,000,000 – $3,000,000 0.75%
$3,000,000 and Above 0.50%
